American Sign Language Level III - 9/16 - 12/16 - Thursdays
American Sign Language, ASL Level III, 14 week course, Thursdays, 9/16-12/14 (no class week of Thanksgiving) from 7-9pm at DILA, 806 Snow Hill Rd, Salisbury, MD. Taught by a deaf instructor, students will learn to carry on an everyday conversation with deaf individuals. Role playing and games designed to teach basic signs are used as tools. Level III reinforces what has been taught in Levels I & II and additional signing skills. Must have taken ASL I and II or have permission of the instructor. Cost is $140 provided you have textbook/DVD, Signing Naturally (used in 3 levels of ASL). If need book cost is $215. Camp Adventure 2010 - 8/19 - 8/22
Camp Adventure, a program offered by Deaf Independent Living Association, Inc. (DILA), is holding its third overnight camping season. This year will be an exciting four day, three night weekend to share experiences, make new friends and reunite with some old ones on August 19 through August 22, 2009. The camp will be held at Camp Pecometh in Centreville, MD. Registration is open for children who are deaf or hard of hearing, siblings or children of deaf or hard of hearing family members. The campers will be divided into two age groupings, 5-12 and 13-17. Each group will have age appropriate individual group activities as well as combined group activities. Some of the activities included are the ever popular campfire and storytelling time, hiking, swimming, games, canoeing and a rope course for the older campers as well as many other wonderful fun things to do. The cost is $155 per camper ages 5-12 and $165 per camper ages 13-17. Registration is on a "First Come, First Served" basis with a June 30, 2010 deadline; after this date add $15. Deaf Community Night with the Shorebirds - 7/24
Celebrate Deaf Community Night with Deaf Independent Living Association, Inc. (DILA) on Saturday, July 24, 2010, as we cheer the Delmarva Shorebirds to victory against the Lakewood Blue Crabs at the Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, Hobbs Rd, Salisbury, MD! Game time is 7:05 pm. After the game stay and enjoy the fireworks display. Sign language interpreter provided. Tickets are $4.50 per person for general admission. Meal plans available to add on to your general admission ticket, for an additional $6.00 you will get a hotdog, chips and small soft beverage or add a hamburger, chips and small soft beverage for $7.00 more. Tickets for the group rate should be purchased no later than July 10, 2010. After this date, if still available, they must be reserved ahead of game time at the stadium's "Will Call" window.

DILA will have an informational booth set up that night and will be holding a raffle to raise money towards Camp Adventure 2010's Camp Scholarship Fund. Camp Adventure 2010 is an overnight summer camp for deaf and hard of hearing children and youth. Stop by the booth to see all the fun the campers had last year and buy a raffle ticket to support this wonderful program. Camp Adventure Scholarship Raffle - 6/6 - 7/24
Deaf Independent Living Association, Inc's (DILA) Camp Adventure committee is selling raffle tickets to benefit their Camp Scholarship Fund for deaf & hard of hearing children and youth. You could win one of five prize packages. The Get-Away Package includes a two night stay at the Holiday Inn Express, Ocean City, MD and lunch or dinner at Brew River plus additional prizes; a Home Care Package includes carpet & upholstery cleaning from Chem-Dry on the Shore and items for the home; a Car Care Package with 10 Ultimate Car Washes from Tiger's Gordy Mart's Autumn Grove car wash and a Jiffy Lube Oil change as well as other prizes; a Ladies Package which includes gift cards to Macy's, Vernon Powell Shoes, Panera Bread, Apple Discount Drugs and other items; and a Recreation Package which includes 2 tickets to the National Aquarium in Baltimore, 2 tickets to Six Flags America in Bowie, MD, 4 rounds of golf at Wood Creek Golf Links and a gift certificate to Dick's Sporting Goods. DINGO Fundraiser - 6/5

Doors open at 12:30 pm and the games begin at 1 pm. The purpose of the event is to offer a fun social event and raise money for its 2010 summer camp scholarship program for deaf and hard-of-hearing children. The event is open to all people regardless of whether or not they have a hearing loss. You must be 18 years old to play. Children are welcome to attend as childcare will be provided at no charge. Up to $500 in cash to be given away based on 85 players. Cost of the event is $12 and no charge for children. Refreshments available. There will also be a 50/50 raffle.
