FALL 2020 ASL Level 1 Classes

  • October, 6 2020 - 6:00pm – 8:00pm

ASL Level 1Classes are taught by a deaf instructor. Students will learn about Deaf Culture and how to carry on an everyday conversation with deaf individuals. Role playing and games designed to teach basic signs are used as tools. By the end of class, a sampling of the skills you will learn are: Manual Alphabet, numbers, introducing yourself and exchanging personal information. We strongly encourage students that pass level 1 to continue to learn by taking a future level class 2 which will build on what was learned in level 1. Like any other language, Level 1 only covers the basics and there is much more to learn to be able to communicate effectively in ASL.

ASL Level 1 Classes will be held September 15 – October 8, 2020 every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8pm. Cost of class is $225 which includes textbook. If you already have the textbook cost is $150. All classes held at Deaf Independent Living Association, Multipurpose Auditorium, 806 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, Maryland will follow CDC social distancing guidelines and mask recommendations. Registration is limited to 20 people. Must be at least 13 years of age to take course.
